Hi, I’m Benjamin Cain, a Plastics Engineer, husband, father, and lifelong problem solver. My journey to engineering wasn’t straightforward — it began with a deep desire to serve my country. Right out of high school, I joined the United States Marine Corps, where I learned discipline, perseverance, and the importance of doing things with purpose and integrity. After four years of service, I was ready for a new challenge. That’s when I decided to pursue engineering — a field that allows me to continue serving others in a different way: by making life better through design and innovation.

Like many pet owners, I started with the best intentions — I just wanted to make life comfortable for my dog, Luna. I thought simple food and water bowl on the floor would do the trick. But as any pet parent knows, it didn’t take long before I noticed the mess — food crumbs scattered across the floor, water rings soaking into the tile, and the constant need to scrub and wipe after every meal.

Trying to make things better, I bought a mat to contain the mess. It helped… until it didn’t. I found myself cleaning three things instead of two — the bowls, the mat, and the floor underneath. Then came the moment that changed everything. During a party at my house, someone accidentally stepped on the edge of the mat. Water went flying. Guests were laughing, but all I could think was: There must be a better way.
